CONFRONT YOUR FEARS IN RAPTURE!

You’ve heard of extreme sports but what about extreme living? Welcome to Rapture, the city where you face your fears or face your death!

At Rapture visitors are issued Welcome/Survival kits, along with a map as they “discover what lies beneath the surface.”

Explore Utopia, discover the folly of man, but be sure you equip yourself before visiting!

Thanks to Laure-Marie Torre for the wonderful concepts and be sure to view her entire portfolio on Behance.

Anxiety of Whovian Proportions!

My wife and I have been playing catch up with Doctor Who (and loving it) and we’ve finally caught up to Matt Smith as The Doctor and we’re now 11 episodes in.

The problem is neither one of us are particularly fond of Matt Smith so far. Our favorite episode with him was the Van Gogh one but we loved it not because of The Doctor but because of Van Gogh and Amy Pond.

My question: Does Matt Smith ever get more Doctor-esque?

Our latest episode is available now. We talk about the closure of LucasArts and what the company meant to us and gaming.

Hope you enjoy!

GUT CHECK EPISODE 6 “LUCASARTS”

In this week’s episode, Josh and I spend some time remembering LucasArts and the magic they brought to gamers’ lives. Disney may have struck it down but now it’s more powerful than they could have ever imagined in the minds and hearts of fans.

GAMER TIE CLIPS

Many of us work jobs that frown upon flaunting our gamertude and we have to be careful about what we wear and accessorize with. So when a design comes along that lets us display our geekiness subtly and in a way that won’t get us in the hot seat with the boss, we celebrate.

The Little Saint offers just such designs in a range of gaming and geeky tie clips. Each clip is made of stainless steel and some are even available in color.

Visit their Etsy for complete selection and pricing.

BIOSHOCK INFINITE SONGBIRD PLUSH

To say that Anna The Red is a fan of Bioshock is like saying that Pi is only 3.14. Anna’s adoration of everything Bioshock is infinite (pun intended) and knows no bounds!

Having already made a Big Daddy-inspired bento box, when Anna saw the Songbird in the Happy Holiday tweet from Irrational Games last year she knew immediately that she had to make one.

Using only the image in the tweet along with the glimpses of Songbird from the trailers, Anna created a Songbird plush in time to present it to Ken Levine at PAX East.

Unfortunately Ken wasn’t around to receive it and … well … just read the heartwarming story on her site.

GUT CHECK EPISODE 5 “HYPE! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?”

This week on Gut Check we talk about the confusion/antics around Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s reveal and delve deep into the subject of hype and how it affects games and the industry. Is it good? Is it bad? Should we pre-order the season pass now to understand it all?

A New April Fool’s Day Tradition!

Every year the tech and gaming industry spend April 1 trying to get you to fall for their elaborate pranks and I spend most of the day not believing anything the internet says.

For next year, I propose we create a new April 1 tradition called April Fuckers.

On April Fuckers we only post truths and reject the jackassery of April Fools and post all the endings/spoilers of recent games and movies.

Sound fun?

SUPER METROID REMASTERED

We’ve seen plenty of Metroid re-envisions before but nothing like what TJ Townsend has created with this HD remaster of this classis scene from Super Metroid.

Every pixel has been re-created with the upmost attention to detail. You can watch the entire process unfold in this Photoshop speed art video.

For a higher resolution version of the image and to see TJ’s HD remake of DOOM, visit his deviantART.
