Can’t get enough of the song “Touch” off the new Daft Punk album. Of course, you can give me some Paul Williams all day any day.

See that handsome fella getting punched in the gut? That’s me and this is our podcast:

GUT CHECK EPISODE 11 “THAT SAME OLD SONG”

This week Josh and I tackle reboots and sequels: The good ones, the bad ones and games that deserve a reboot or sequel. Join us for a candid talk about my days as a surveyor for the Wastelands of Fallout 3, the trials of Tony Hawk and we plead our case for bringing back Bully, Xenogears and Rogue Galaxy.

EARLY LOOK AT NECA’S UPCOMING TEAM FORTRESS 2 FIGURES

Figures.com has a great inside look at NECA’s Studio and a bunch of their upcoming action figures in early builds and prototypes. Some of those include The Spy and Engineer figures from Valve’s Team Fortress 2.

There’s also some pictures of the upcoming Gravity Gun replica from Half-Life which is high on my must own list for this year. Be sure to take a look at all the awesome figures and items NECA is working on.

GAMING MINIMALISM

Ari Martínez transforms a few favorite franchises into picturesque prints that are as iconic as the games they represent. He not only invoked memories of when Sonic was fun, but I really love the fact that he included the oldie but goodie Carmageddon in the set.

GUT CHECK EPISODE 10 “TRENT REZNOR NEEDS A PAYCHECK

This week we set our sights on Adapted IPs (films, tv shows, comics, etc.) that have been turned into video games. Some are decent but most are bad mediocre tie-ins that are horrid cash grabs.

We discuss Josh’s obsession with bad Superman games, Lois and Clark the dating sim, the renaissance of great adapted tie-ins in retro games (DuckTalesBart vs. The Space Mutants) and why Kindergarden Cop should have been made into a game.

WOMEN IN GAMES

As we discussed in our podcast a few weeks ago, women’s depictions in games are gradually changing for the better.

While it’s still far from perfect, games like Tomb Raider, Metroid, Borderlands 2, and the upcoming Transistor and Remember Me are slowly changing the view of women in games—no longer are they shifted to a support role, now they are the badass mofo giving the baddies the business.

And speaking of badass, deviantARTIST muju’s depiction of women from games perfectly encapsulate the idea that women can lead and kick ass as well as (or better than) any man.

With the recent announcement of the Ratchet and Clank movie, we thought this would be a good time to discuss the highs, lows, and very lows of Hollywood’s adaption of games into movies.

Warning: We talk about some really crappy movies.

GUT CHECK EPISODE 9 “BOO-RAY FOR HOLLYWOOD”

This week we take a close examination into Hollywood’s horrific track record for adapting video game properties into films (both live action and animated). This episode has it all: Uwe Boll, bad carbs at the theater, painful childhood memories and best of all Wilford Brimley’s House of Pancakes!

*Editor’s Note* Stay tuned during the credits for an inspirational speech from Col. William F. Guile now that the war is over.
